Yogurt Scotch - the review
With the encouragement of Chris and Lisa I took the plunge and tried out the Yogurt Scotch that was threatening me on my desk for the past week.
Of course there was nothing to fear. I had the idea of scotch, as in Scotch whiskey, planted in my mind. But as Lisa Pointed out I should be thinking along the lines of Butter Scotch. She was right.
Image a hard glossy butterscotch sweet, minus the buttery niceness, plus the tangy weirdness of yogurt. I can’t say that I am a raving fan. The combination is unique but not altogether pleasant. However I can say that about 5 minutes ago I ate not one, but 2 of the little things and so far I am not suffering in any way.
It makes me wonder what other bizarre Japanese sweets are out there? Or bizarre sweets from any country really. What is the weirdest sweet you have ever found?

Hmm… Well, I’ve had a lot of candy, especially from Japan, with questionable English names… such as Mentos Pine Fresh. They’re pineapple-flavored, but… honestly, how can you see Pine Fresh and not think of floor cleaner?
As for actual weird candy, I think the most unusual I’ve ever had is something my sister picked up in Mexico called Tiron del Mango… It was a little plastic jar of paste, with no kind of spoon included or instructions on how you should eat it. The flavor was an extremely spicy blend of mango and a kind of fake, almost medicinal taste. So, yeah. A rather weird candy.
