Solo dinner #1 - curry cheat
Japan is known for it’s curry. It is sweet and not even really very curryish but it tastes OK. The sliest most cheating way to get curry onto your table is to use a ready made sachet like this. Everything is in there ( at least the bare minimum of everything). All it needs is heating and eating.
To make a cheat meal even easier I put rice on to cook in my rice cooker and when it has about 10 minutes to go I quickly open the lid, throw in the unopened sachet and close it up to finish cooking. I’m sure I am breaking all of the rice cooking rules by letting steam out and all that but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. Anyway, a curry sachet meal is hardly a gourmet experience. It tastes OK but it is teetering on the edge between food and junk.
This week of cooking-for-one has gotten off to a shaky start with this meal. In my favour I would like to claim children induced insanity and the Japanese rainy season as reasons why my cooking was not actually cooking tonight. I’ll try to pick it up a bit tomorrow. Sorry!

Wow, you couldn’t even be bothered to properly cook the foil baggy? THAT, my good sir, is worthy of a Sloth Badge.
