Sake season is here
Beer season is drawing to a close in Japan (if that is possible). My favourite little beer shop has put away their Nama Beer tap until next summer. I guess that is all to do with demand. Anyway the cold weather is here and it definitely feels more enticing to drink room temperature or hot sake rather than cold beer.
I love the cup size sake jars that are available all over Japan. They are either glass with a plastic lid or all plastic. The glass ones are nicer to drink out of, but the plastic ones are better for active pursuits. Last winter I would tuck a plastic 200ml sake jar in my ski jacket for emergencies on the ski fields. Needless to say I had a few of those emergencies.
There are a range of quality in sake cup serves. Although they are all quite good value. Usually between 150 and 350 yen for about 200ml.
This makes trying out a range of different breweries a lot easier. Try them if you can get them.
