Mid-Autumn / Mooncake Festival
Depending on where you look for the information you’ll find that dates for celebrating this festival varies. ChinaPage.com listed yesterday’s date though. We’re not Chinese (though hubby has a bit of Chinese blood in him) but thought it would be fun to join in the festivities by having some a little mooncake celebration yesterday. I was looking for regular mooncakes when I was in St. Louis recently, but all the Asian stores I visited were out, as they were offering only special mooncakes in anticipation of the festival. So I got one of the fancy boxes with all kinds of goodies….

My 3-year-old enjoyed the cookies and hubby loved the mooncake with whole duck egg yolks, but my favorite, surprisingly, was the rice-tapioca concoction with a jelly filling — and I’m not a jelly filling fan!
Some sites list the 28th as Mooncake Festival day, so if you’ve got a hankering for some mooncakes, you still have time to get yourself some and celebrate!
