Jollibee, San Diego, CA
The Filipinos’ response to fast food:

Jollibee beckons!

ChickenJoy, great even coloring, crunchy coating and juicy inside… the kids loved it! Remember, though, that you can also make great fried chicken at home.

Halo-halo
Hubby thoroughly enjoyed this one, but for the price you can make something just as good, or even better at home, to serve more than just 1 or 2.

Pancit Palabok
Way overpriced; I don’t know if prices are determined by location, if it is, that might explain why something like this would cost $3.99.

Try it just to say you did, but if you choose not to, you’re not missing anything.
Contrary to some reviews I’ve seen, I’d like to clarify that Jollibee’s offerings are not just interpretations of American dishes. Do you see the mayo on that very plain burger? Show me an American burger that looks like that! Asian fried chicken is very different from American — in some ways better — yes, even than the Maryland variety, or the Southern one fried in lard and/or shortening. And the palabok and halu-halo are nothing if not Filipino, wouldn’t you agree?
Excellent choice for nostalgic expats, or at the very least a photo op with the mascot up front.

I used to work at Jollibee Philippines as a service crew. My boyfriend is a manager for six years in Jollibee. We want to inquire if there’s a job offer there in Jollibee San Diego.
