Japanese Frankfurts
Today I hesitated about posting about something so un-Japanese as frankfurts. But I can’t argue with popularity. Frankfurts and various kinds of wieners are very popular in Japan. It is almost like they are fashionable at the moment but the words fashion and frankfurt don’t really fit in the same sentence.
At a Japanese Matsuri, there will usually be some greasy pile of frankfurts for sale. Usually they have been rudely slashed and impaled on a stick in order to assist with their brutal treatment on the BBQ plate. They are eaten exactly like that with mustard or ketchup, and I’m not ashamed to say, they taste pretty good.
They are probably terrible for your cholesterol, your waistline and your over all health, but sometimes the best things are. Try them at your own risk.

These are great photos, although I’m not sold on the weiners. You’d have to regret eating them afterwards, wouldn’t you, when they keep reminding you days later they were there. I’ll stick with Okonomiyaki for my Japanese junk food, I think.
