Dora Japanese sweets
I am assuming that these tasty little guys are called Dora because that is what the Hiragana says on the package. They also could be called Ogawa because that is also printed but I think that must be the brand name. Either way I call them pikelettes filled with “An” paste.
That is simply what they are. Conventional pikelettes made into a sandwich with a filling of thick red bean (or white bean) “An” paste.
Very simple and easy to make at home but even easier to buy from the shop.
To make the red bean paste you can start with a tin of adzuki beans or a bag of dried beans. Soak them overnight. Boil them in plenty of water until they go soft. Drain them, mash them up a bit and add enough sugar to suit yourself. Spoon the thick gooey paste in between your pikelettes and off you go. Your very own Dora (or is it Ogawa?)
